"Pancho"
Part Nine


Pancho still had some body contact issues, particularly with people that he didn't know well, so he wasn't ready to ride. We expected him, however, to be able to tolerate the sight, sound and movement of a saddle while doing ground work. For the remaining few days, much of Pancho's work took place with his wearing a saddle.

Ponying is a good way to get a horse used to having riders (elevated, moving people) nearby. We started out on the track and as soon as Pancho appeared solid, we moved to the Horse Course where he had to concentrate on the obstacles.
