"Missy"

Missy is a solid color registered paint filly who is Annie and Toby Marriquin's first horse. She was raised around goats and at first didn't really act like a horse. She would walk into any building, would grab things off of shelves, play with picnic tables, turning them over, and go places horses generally wouldn't go. She liked to climb up onto some big sand piles we had for construction and flop down, all four legs hanging over the edge, then ambush the other horses that would happen by!

Right off the bat Sharon realized Missy needed some serious ground schooling as she had no ground manners or sense of respect. We also turned her out with the more tolerant groups of horses and before too many weeks passed, she started to behave more "horse like"

She took to the handling and training very well. When it came time to see how she would tolerate a saddle, she acted as if it was as natural as rain. So, we tried mounting her. Not a bit of a problem.

Due to her age and size, we hadn't really planned to start riding her this soon, however she's obviously ready for some light work (walking, backing, bending) and she seems to enjoy the stimulation, so off we go!
