Charlie and Farley
|
We needed to find some replacement ranch dogs, so we followed up on an ad for half Great Pyrenees puppies. These dogs sounded great since the breed is known to make excellent watchdogs and these pups were born on a horse ranch, so they had some idea how to behave around large livestock.
Well, we brought a brother and sister home and soon discovered we had procured two very clever rascals who could get into, or on top of, nearly anything. At three months of age, the pups would run, tumble and play all day long. Charlie, the female was a little smaller and slower than Farley, the male... so she'd grab hold of his tail as he would run by and hang on and let him pull her, or she'd dive underneath him, grabbing a leg, and flip him over.

One problem with active large dogs is that sometimes they tend to break themselves down.
One broken front foot and four torn anterior cruciate ligaments later (two per dog)
and we had over $12,000.00 in surgery bills on these guys, but "rebuilt" they are
and they're both doing fine.
