"Aerial"

Aerial "at work", Lassen Peak, CA

Aerial is a female burro from E. Granite Springs, Nevada. Foaled in 1994, she stands 12.2 hands, weighs 555 lbs, and is considered a large standard. She is a good example of an African Somali, (Wild Ass). Currently she is trained to ride, drive, pack, skid logs, move hay, walk leadless on trails and evening walks, and hide work tools.

She participates at the Reno Wild Horse and Burro Show. She also has participated in the Roseburg, Or., "Oregon Mr. Longears Show". She has won several blue ribbons. (Dave took the Americana Class with "Backwards Jake, who didn't know his horse from his ass!" Wendy, a mustang, is bringing up the rear with the pack saddle.)

Aerial makes as many BLM adoptions at Susanville, Ca. as weather permits, and as many satellite adoptions, in Northern California, as we can make. At the adoptions, where she gives donkey back rides, she promotes the use of burros for more than just lawn decorations.

Aerial was the hit of the Folsom, Ca. BLM adoption last year, as she took single raisins from inner city kids fingers, and walked freely amongst the adopting croud, greeting them in her own way.

Aerial's picture appears in the Fall 1997 issue of the Mustang Manes and Tales on page 11!

Looking at those ears, there's little question as to how Aerial got her name!

Dave and his family operate "The Hole in the Head Gang," a ranch for abused and rescued animals in Willows, CA. (Dave, I think you meant "Hole in the Wallet," didn't you?) Check out their exploits (with lots of pictures) by clicking here.
