"Banjo Boy"

Banjo

"Banjo" was captured at 8 months of age in January of 1995 from the Shawave herd of Lovelock (Pershing County), Nevada. We got him in November 1999 from his second owner. He currently lives in Blodgett, Oregon with us, Rachel & Josh Towne.

He is a gorgeous one, but a bit skittish. He loves to buck but he is a gentleman when it comes to our 1½ year old. He absolutely adores her. She can pet him and pat him and he stands there as still as can be not even flinching at his surroundings. He likes to fool people into thinking he is a wild one, but really he is not. It may take a few tries to catch him and put his halter on, but as soon as you do he is fine.

He loves to buck and snort when treats come his way, grain especially. Everyday when it is graining time, he runs full speed around the field with some bucks and snorts to accompany his excitement. The only downfall to him so far is that he doesn't like strangers or loud voiced people. My family is somewhat loud and he gets really nervous around them and acts like he will burst into a bucking frenzy at any moment (although he never has). We are working on that, but I think this is the one thing that will take quite awhile to completely accomplish.

Banjo and Apollo
The good life!

He is one who trusts only those who love him and visit him on a daily basis. However, he does stand still for the farrier to trim his feet and he has no need for shoes with his strong hard feet. He loves to play with his friends Apollo, a fellow mustang, John, a 19 year old quarter horse who happens to be the king of their herd, and Buck a buckskin quarter horse. Their daily routine consists of nibbling, biting, kicking and snorting at each other.

All and all, we absolutely love Banjo. He takes more time than the rest, but he deserves it. He's a keeper!
