Mustang Close-Up

"Cisco"

Cisco and Monica
(Cisco at 19 Mos.)

Cisco is out of a Mustang mare by an Arab stallion Foaled Sep '98 Pine Hills Reservation, N.M.

Cisco and his dam were severely neglected, malnourished and starved. Cisco was rescued from his situation by his sire's owner, fed, gentled, but a new home couldn't be found for him. His swollen and somewhat crooked front legs, due to his inadequate diet and hoof care, and his young age kept people from wanting him. So he now lives at Rancho del Lobo Loco in N.M. with Monica and has a good chance of recovery to someday become a trail or light driving horse. Monica keeps him as quiet as possible as vet says no running or jumping, a very hard situation for a youngster who's feeling much better each day and wants to play. Her farrier is giving special care and reshaping, rebalancing Cisco's feet.

Monica will update his recovery from time to time.
