Surprise!
Adoption day with 1 day old Quincy

Tom and Gwilda picked out Sierra and her foal, Quincy, at the May, 1996, adoption in Quincy, Florida.

Tom and Gwilda didn't intend to adopt this year but they went to Quincy to see some local mentors, John & Jill Ferguson, receive a service award at a seminar which was held the day before the adoption. One of the seminar door prizes was lottery pick number 5.

Only one person drew a lower number than the Byrds and he lived too far away to transport a mare with a newborn. Quincy was too cute to pass up so Tom and Gwilda increased the size of their little mustang herd.

Trainer Bill Ross (age 77), who started Tom's and Gwilda's other two mares and their donkey, Malaki, also started Sierra.
