Toy was a so-called "bum colt" given to me by the Rock Springs BLM in
October 96. We milk fed her for several months and consequently she truly
believes I am her mother. I can call her a half mile out in the pasture
and she always answers.
Toy turned into a beautiful big boned filly who obviously has some draft
horse blood. She has a wonderful smooth extended trot. We started her
under saddle last summer and found a filly willing and able to do anything
we asked and smart beyond any domestic horse.
It's hard to get a picture of Toy because she is always right there with me
Locking her in the corral is the only way to work with the other horses.
I don't recommend putting fingers in any horses mouth but Toy is my
exception. I wish everyone who loves horses could have a mustang. Toy is
so full of personality and smart. I believe natural selection makes for
some very tough horses. In Wyoming here we seem to have some very big
boned wild ones due to the ranchers intoducing draft types.
