My name is Lisa Messinger, and this is Tristy, a 14 year old, 14 hand,
blood bay, mustang. He was captured in a canyon in Nevada, and was adopted
by my neighbor in 1986 as a two year old. He is very intellegent, always
trying to please at whatever you ask him to do, and has the best horsenality
I have ever witnessed. Since I have become Tristy's mom, he has bonded well
with me. He will follow me around in the pasture like a dog.
Tristy is very
athletic, although sometimes a little encouragement is needed. Praise is
on the top of our list, as Tristy is so willing to please he needs to
hear praise to boost his confidence. Tristy rides english and
western, jumps, and knows the beginning levels of dressage. He has very
smooth gaits for a small horse.Currently we are jumping 2'6" and he
clears those with plenty of air between him and the jump. I am working
on a lot of flat work, so he will be ready for some spring shows. He has
been successfully shown in the past, often coming out on top. He gets along
well with other horses and also likes dogs as well. He loves to go out
on the trails, and is very patient with me, as I always encounter some
type of learning experience while on the trail, whether it be water, or
a huge boulder, that too him looks like a big bad ghost. Tristy even
agrees to giving pony rides. Of course because of his horsenality, he
nudges me with his head every couple of steps, like " how come you are
leading me and someone else is on me!"
I love Tristy so much, he will
be my lifelong companion, of course my husband thinks he is involved in
that competition.
Tristy has a perfect 5 point star on his forehead. He was Trained by my
neighbor who originally adopted him. He was also used in the University
of Mass. riding program for about 4 years. He is a very easy keeper, but
always at turnout time, even though he is the smallest horse he must run
to beat the other horses to the grass!!! He loves to eat. Sometimes he
will mimic another horse, Vinny, that he is turned out with. If Vinny
rolls, then Tristy has to stop and roll!!!
