  IMPORTANT WILD HORSE &
BURRO ADOPTIONS IN 2001

Due to last year's massive drought and wildfire situation, BLM has had to gather large numbers of displaced horses. These gathers were needed to prevent the herds form migrating into environmentally sensitive areas in their desperate search for food and water. These increased gathers have created a holding system "capacity problem" since a large number of horses were already in holding pens. These horses, along with a significant number of burros that were brought in, need to be placed in appropriate adoptive homes.

KBR World of Wild Horses and Burros will post notices of important adoptions on this page. Additional adoption event information can be found at BLM's adoption schedule page, located at http://www.blm.gov/whb/adpsch.html.
