AMENDMENT TO APPENDIX B OF EA# WY-030-EA0-037 The analysis attempts to distill a recognized range of variables regarding gestation into a simple, comprehensible form. Some commentors have labeled this as a mathematical error. This amendment clarifies the points that might be misunderstood. It does not change any of the conclusions. On page 59, reference is made to after the 38th week of pregnancy twice. On page 60, reference is made to the eleventh month of pregnancy twice. On page 63, the last 30-40 days and the last 15-30 days of pregnancy are referenced. Also on page 63, the accepted range in the gestation period among horses along with the usefulness of applying an eleven month average are discussed. On page 60, the window of exclusion is discussed in the terms of an eleven month average. In order to remove all possible concerns that these statements are somehow inconsistent, the four statements on pages 59 and 60 are changed from after the 38th week and before the eleventh month to 'prior to the last six weeks of pregnancy' which are the basis of the identification of the window of exclusion. Further, the window is based on the visible event which signifies the end of gestation (foaling) rather than on the more elusive event which constitutes the beginning (conception).
