  Making Replacement Riveted Visors

The Marbelite 4-way signal in the collection came from Seattle, WA and had special order "Seattle spec" visors that some of us call "blunties." The blunties were sort of a cross between traditional cap visors and Marbelite's "tunnaway" visors. The idea was to minimize side splash of light yet still have the indications of center hung signals visible to pedestrians.

Some of the visors were pretty rough so I had a pattern made from one particularly good visor and a new set made out of aluminum using a plasma cutter.

The mounting tabs for Marbelite visors were riveted on so using tabs salvaged from old visors and rivets from Hanson Rivet Co. I was able to make exact duplicates of the original visors.

The rivet process described below will work on virtually any rivet tab type visor.
