KBR Wild Horse and Burro Information Sheet

Powell Butte, Oregon

High Desert Kigers

In trying to develop an information sheet on Kiger Horses, we were fortunate to run across Pam Fournier who does Kiger breeding in Oregon. She so graciously sent down some wonderful images of her herd which helps capture some of the mood and "horsonalities" of these most interesting equines. (Thanks Pam!) We hope you enjoy this visual presentation.

Jorge (the larger youngster in the top of the photo series) is a 1997 dun colt. He was in a mare Pam adopted in 1996 from the Kiger HMA. He has a very calm and friendly disposition and should be nearly 15 hands when he grows up. Jorge belongs to Paige Brown of Sandy, OR.

Mariah's full name is High Desert Mariah. She is a 1997 grulla Kiger mustang filly. She is out of Steens Adelita Rose, a Kiger mare which Pam adopted in the 1993 lottery in Burns. Rose was from the Riddle HMA.

Mariah is spirited but is very friendly. Her sire is Pam's Kiger stallion Riddle Mountain Redman (Manny) and is owned by Rocke Bell of Eugene, Oregon.

Manny

"Manny" was foaled in captivity in 1993 and his dam is Shadybrook's Red October from the Riddle HMA. His sire is Shadybrooks Hombre from the Kiger HMA. (That's Keelan, age 4, with Manny.)
