MBEA is a registry and breed association whose efforts are directed toward the preservation of the breed. We do, however, offer an Appendix registry for halfbreeds. This registry was founded not to improve the breed by outcrossing in order to breed up physical traits or to bring out another breeds characteristics, but to enjoy the Mustang as nature bred him. We find value in the breed itself and in all its variations. The Association offers breeders programs and a points program to exhibitors. Our aim is to positively project the image of the mustang and to protect it.

The Sorraia Mustang Studbook (SMS) has been established to record available data of all Sorraia-type mustangs (dun/grullo), keep track of the horses, and encourage selective breeding for this type, as a means to help preserve the subspeices. The SMS does not rival any other mustang registry and does register horses strictly on conformation, regardless of the herd management area they were captured in or other mustang assocation(s) that they may also be registered with.

At this point free registration is available and consists of data-recording only; no papers issued. Issuing of registration certificates optional at $25.00 per horse. If you are a mustang owner and feel your horse(s) may qualify, please write to the SMS, sending in the following: 5 color photographs, front view, side view, headshot directly from one side, dorsal stripe, BLM number or number of Mustang registry if the horse does not have a BLM number; sex, birthdate, height, name and address of owner.
