Looking for Trouble

One of the difficulties with the parade costume was the knight's
"imitation leather" helmet. Not wishing to go the entire suit of armor
route, we opted to go with light battle gear.

Trying to get a soft vinyl helmet to stay in place while riding a
horse turned out to be a bit of a challenge. There were only small
vertical slots with which to see through between the nose protector
and the cheeks. After some redesign and adjustments here and there,
I could finally turn my head or catch some wind and not have the thing
twist and blind me. (This was a good thing for the next parade we entered
was on the windiest day of the year; actually knocking a few old branches
out of the trees in the city park!)
