  New Nevada Agriculture Director
Takes Aim at Wild Horses

Seniors Against Wild Horse Abuse

Retired lobbyest Gary Griffith makes his point.

Some folks got pretty upset when Department of Agriculture spokesperson Ed Foster labeled retired nurse and Silver Springs resident Kathy Graves a threat to the department. It seems like Graves caught Foster in a lie, which Foster denied until Graves produced a tape of exactly what Foster said. Then Graves asked Foster to provide the documentation to support what Foster claims he did say - "... if it (the range) has 2 - 3 - 4 thousand horses on it..."

Graves, having some medical background understands a little bit about birth rates and she challenged Foster on how he came up with such a population explosion.

Of course in this administration, if you can't come up with an answer then the next best course of action is to label the inquiring citizen a threat. That should solve the problem.

This is how public officials in this administration treat Nevada citizens. (Perhaps the Nevada Commission on Tourism should include warnings in their tourism ads that people are welcome to visit Nevada so long as they don't ask questions.)

In response to this bit of bureaucratic lunacy, 25 senior wild horse advocates showed up on a gorgeous day and made their position known. Even radio personality and Sparks Tribune columnist Travus T. Hipp stopped by to mingle and get the scoop.

A two fisted senior.
Lacy and Willis.
Perfect weather for a demonstration.

Southwest Blend Gets Behind Wild Horses

Southwest Blend Magazine will have Lacy, Craig and Willis on their May 18th "Champagne Brunch" radio show to discuss, of course, the Nevada Wild Horse issue. They're also coming up to do a magazine feature and possibly a TV travel piece on the Comstock Historic District and the wild horses. We'll show them around and we'll even try to get a plug in for the V&T Railway while they're up here. With a possible recession coming on we need all the positive publicity we can get for the Comstock. The Southwest Blend folks know that horses get people's attention, so this adventure should be a win for everyone. Well, maybe not for the Department of Ag.

Here's a promo Southwest Blend did for Nevada's wild horses. Enjoy.

(While the Nevada Department of Agriculture and the Gibbons Administration are apparently Hell-bent to turn Nevada into a pariah in the minds of thousands of tourists who love horses, we horse folks are still trying to help promote those honest businesspeople who make their living in Comstock tourist industry.)
