| Here is an version of GE's Form 45H, this time with an aluminum domed reflector. It's slightly larger than the Form 46 and was designed for either open wiring or for feed provided through the bracket arm. Some versions of the Form 45 had external wiring lugs. This lamp is in the Form 45-H4 configuration with internal lugs. (For more background on the internal lug design, please visit GE Form 46.)
Cutaway view of the original Form 45-H from the 1936 GE catalog. It was a bit bulkier than then Form 45-H4 version.

This particular luminaire has an Alzak aluminum domed reflector. Aluminum reflectors were primarily used where corrosion was a problem with porcelain coated steel reflectors. They were also lighter, although they were not very resistant to bending. The reflectors were secured with four conventional machine screws as rather than the clips and wing headed screws used on the steel reflectors.
