Webmaster's Note: This is the only volunteer group that I am aware of that BLM uses to gather wild horses off the range. It is because The FOM volunteers are effective, yet so safety conscious with respect to the wild horses, that they are allowed to do this.

Mustang Breeders & Exhibitors Association
MBEA is a registry and breed association whose efforts are directed toward the preservation of
the breed. We do, however, offer an Appendix registry for halfbreeds. This registry was founded not to
improve the breed by outcrossing in order to breed up physical traits or to bring out another breeds
characteristics, but to enjoy the Mustang as nature bred him. We find value in the breed itself and in all
its variations. The Association offers breeders programs and a points program to exhibitors. Our aim
is to positively project the image of the mustang and to protect it.
Mustang Performance Horse Registry
MPHR registers mustangs and burros, and their offspring, that can demonstrate a feral
lineage, however the individual animal must also have competed in some judged event. The intent of the registry is to promote mustangs in competition and foster communication
about wild herds and training adopted animals. Registered animals will receive a nice registration certificate which lists submitted qualifying competitive events on the back.
National Mustang Association
North American Mustang Assn. & Registry

Sorraia Mustang Studbook
The Sorraia Mustang Studbook (SMS) has been established to record available data of all
Sorraia-type mustangs (dun/grullo), keep track of the horses, and encourage selective breeding for this
type, as a means to help preserve the subspeices. The SMS does not rival any other mustang registry
and does register horses strictly on conformation, regardless of the herd management area they were
captured in or other mustang assocation(s) that they may also be registered with.
At this point free registration is available and consists of data-recording only; no papers issued. Issuing
of registration certificates optional at $25.00 per horse. If you are a mustang owner and feel your horse(s)
may qualify, please write to the SMS, sending in the following: 5 color photographs, front view, side
view, headshot directly from one side, dorsal stripe, BLM number or number of Mustang registry if the horse
does not have a BLM number; sex, birthdate, height, name and address of owner.

in Southern Utah.

on blood lines, color or conformation. Currently, all freezemarked wild horses
and burros from BLM and from the White Sands Missile Range are accepted. Foals
not freezemarked will be accepted if conception occurred in the wild prior to
capture as determined by the mares capture date and foal birth date. Any
offspring of a mare, stallion, jenny or jack already registered in this
registry will be accepted.
The ISPMB is active in the rescue and rehabilitation of BLM Mustangs and
Burros through their Operation Wild Horse and Burro Rescue program. The
rescue group stays in contact with the auction houses in the State of Arizona.
Whenever a BLM Mustang or Burro is put up for auction, the group purchases
the animal, brings them back to the ISPMB facility, rehabilitates the

used to rehabilitate young and old people alike through the ISPMB Volunteer
program. They are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. They produce a quarterly
newsletter through funds raised by donations. The donations are also used to
feed the current herd and purchase auctioned animals.

or of you know of a wild horse or burro organization which we haven't listed,
