"Jesse"
Part 2

And everyone thought
Dan (left) was big...
Joyce North of the wild horse and burro group wanted to keep Jesse so he went up to the Windmill Ranch. Jesse found this location to be quite stimulating as to a great extent it resembles Dr. Doolittle's zoo. Joyce plans to keep him "for the duration."

Jesse got to discover horses of every size and description, longears, llamas, emus and a host of other new barn critters. His best equine buds have ended up being Cindy and Hot Rod, Joyce's minis.

He seems to really be liking the green pastures (a horse has to eat grass, you know) and all of the attention being heaped upon him. Joyce reported that he's starting to think his name is "Oh, God!" as that is usually what people say when they see him for the first time.

Joyce isn't far from a nice gentleman who runs a Belgian hitch so this coming spring ('00) he's offered to give Jesse some exposure to other draft horses and he'll get some experience handling himself in a hitch.

In the meanwhile Jesse is content to enjoy all the attention he's getting and munching that delicious Humboldt County grass.

Joyce writes:

Yesterday Jesse spent more time out in the yard assisting me with misc. chores. I believe there was a mistake in his registration. He is actually a huge puppy dog. He adores to be with people and follows me all over! If I went to the other side of the yard, all I had to do was say....c'mon Jess, lets go and kurplunk, kuplunk...he came! No halter either! Just invite him and here he comes.
