Kiger Profiles

Jake

Jake's sire is from the SE Oregon Warm Springs HMA and his dam is a Kiger mare who is 14 hands if she stands on her tippy toes. Jake is 15.3 and still growing. Pam reports that although he is kind of snorty he did not buck at all when she started him and has turned into quite a trail horse. Pam would love to see him used for English as he moves and looks more like an English horse.

Jake is owned by Paige Brown of Sandy, OR.

Jasper and his mom

This colt is High Desert Jasper. Jasper is by Pam's Kiger stallion Riddle Mountain Redman whose sire is from the Kiger HMA and whose dam is from the Riddle HMA. Jasper's mother is a daughter of the great Steens Kiger and out of a Kiger mare who is from the adoption before 1993. Jasper has quite a personality and already thinks he is herd stallion. With his big warm eyes and long hair he looks more like a cuddly teddy bear. He is owned by Dana Miyamoto of Remond, OR.

Lucy

This is High Desert Lucia, "Lucy". She is a red dun Kiger filly by Pam's Kiger stallion Riddle Mountain Redman, whose dam is from the Riddle HMA and whose sire is from the Kiger HMA. Lucy's dam is Steens Magdelina. "Maggie" is a Kiger mare sired in the wild and out of Steens Adelita Rose who Pam adopted in the 1993 lottery from the Riddle HMA. Lucy is very friendly and has great color.

Lucy was so easy to halter break that Pam's 5 year old son pretty much did it. Pam just went out and put the halter on and handed Keelan the rope and they walked off. Lucy should grow up to be be good sized. She is owned by Glen Myamoto of Redmond, OR.
